I am not excited about REJOICE Always. I realize that might grate on a few people, but I am just being honest about where I am at. Now because I feel this way doesn’t make me right, because I know God is asking me to rejoice even when circumstances are not how I would have them, or like.
I am irritated with the Shelter In Place extended yet again, here in Minnesota. I know I am not alone as other states throughout this country are under the same confines and some with worse restrictions than what I may have.
I don’t think God is asking us to say “Oh yay! Isn’t this wonderful!” No. I think he is asking us to rejoice in the big God he is. He still reigns and is sovereign over us and his plan for you and me. He wants me to look forward to my eternity with him. He wants me to find things in my day that remind me of him, his care, his love.
Rejoicing always is not hard. I just have to stop being so hard-headed, hard-hearted, dwelling on the yuck, things beyond my control. Because when I look into that pit ( like the scene from The Two Towers, when Frodo is in the marsh looking into the deadly water and is so caught up he falls in) I get a bad mindset and fall into the junk in the pit and poisoned by it.
Look up! God always reins.
