We are about halfway through the school year and there will be spring concerts and plays to think about. For kids, this can be a formidable time. Getting up in front of an audience can be scary. However, It is important to help children learn this skill. It’s a skill they will use throughout their lives and the sooner they get used to it the better it will be for them.

I was in 4-H all my growing up. They required us to make presentations and learn to lead meetings. My high school teacher said they could always pick out the 4-H kids because they had speaking skills. As a Children’s Minister, I gave many opportunities for the kids to perform and present monologues. Even scripture memory helps with this. I had a child who was so shy that my assistant would take her into the hallway to recite the week’s memory verse. But by her final year in the children’s department, she was participating in a talent contest.
