Homeschool 2024/2025

Welcome back! I felt with all that is going on in the world, it’s really hard to concentrate on doing the fun stuff. Do you ever feel that way? It’s good to drop back and enjoy something. Laugh and relax. You can’t be on Code Yellow every day! Today, I will share about our homeschool year 2024/2025 and how we are doing.

And we’re off!

Maybe the hardest part of homeschooling is picking a curriculum. There are so many wonderfully enriching curriculum companies out there, it can be very hard to choose. Way back I had started with Sonlight, so that was my first choice for Pre-K3 materials. I enjoyed the reading and the simple pre-school preparatory exercises.

Once we had covered those items, I began my research for 4k. I got several recommendations for Gentle and Classical Press. After several hours of poking around Gentle and Classical, I took advantage of the sale and bought their Preschool curriculum.

Gentle and Classical Preschool

Erin, the owner of Gentle and Classical Press, has done an excellent job of presenting your child with a well-rounded education. Preschool is a great place to land and get familiar with her homeschool product. What I thoroughly enjoyed about the Gentle and Classical Preschool product was the relaxed tone of the curriculum. I loved the flexibility in the schedule and especially enjoyed the printable grids for coming up with my plan.

Erin has developed a curriculum with a Charlotte Mason Classical Education approach, and if you’re not familiar with Charlotte Mason, you can get an education on Charlotte’s teaching philosophy here.

Your child will not go educationally hungry when using Erin’s Preschool Bundle. Within this amazing bundle lies an excellent start to learning. Have no fear. These subjects are perfect for your 3-4-year-old! And you’re going to have fun learning right alongside your child! Here is what this fantastic bundle contains:

  • The Teacher’s Guide- this is a free download- try before you buy!
  • Handicraft Activity Guide- Many activities are simple, with already at home items.
  • Morning Binder- So fun!
  • Art and Music Pack- Very informative and fun as well.
  • Memory Statements- These statements are wonderful tools to help you children remember: Bible Verses, Nursery Rhymes, Health and Hygiene, Catechism (don’t shy away from these statements!) and Math.

Open and Go!

I love Erin’s approach to making this very ‘open and go’ friendly. For me ‘open and go’ means most of the work to organize everything has been done for you, but I feel it’s important to read through each days lesson to know what’s coming. Some folks don’t want to prep and truly just sit down and go!

Erin has done the heavy lifting by organizing a schedule for you. She has a book list for you as well. I was ecstatic to know I can easily loan most of the books from the local library. But some books I did purchase since my local library and the state library loan system did not have certain books.

The schedule is very easy to follow or make one to suit your own educational interests. We took about 30-45 minutes for our school time and did the reading at different points in our day.

Kate Snow, who has developed a great math program for children, came highly recommended from Erin, so we invested in the Preschool Math.

Hey, friends! That’s all for now, but join me next week as I continue on in my Gentle and Classical Press homeschool curriculum review!- Michele. my Gentle and Classical Press homeschool curriculum review!- Michele
