Introducing Glenae Atchison
May I introduce my college friend, Glenae Atchison as a contributor to this website. You may recognize her name if you have been to my Facebook page, Leaving a Legacy. She posts there on a regular basis.
Glenae is a native of Indiana and a long time resident of Mississippi. She graduated from Asbury College in 1983 with a BS in Music Education. She and her husband, Skip have been married for over thirty years. They have two married children and three grandchildren. Glenae is active in choir, two group Bible studies, United Methodist Women, and is a certified lay servant in the United Methodist Church. Her favorite activities include singing and playing the piano, sewing, quilting, making Swedish weave blankets, and, of course, spending time with her grandchildren.
As you will see she is ‘made from the same cloth” as I. And now her first post on the subject of prayer.
Praying for Fellow Christians
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in You will carry it on until the day of Christ Jesus. “-Philippians 1:3-6
Have you ever noticed that in the Bible, nearly every letter to the churches has a statement about thanking God for those church members and praying for them?
Look it up: Romans, I Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians…
“I thank my God…in my prayers for you.”
Those words (or a version of them) appear close to the beginning in each of those books of the Bible.
We should do likewise.
Pray for your church, and for all your neighboring churches who are preaching the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. After all, no matter our denomination…Methodist, Baptist, Wesleyan, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Pentecostal… we believe and preach Jesus Christ and His love, His great sacrifice, and resurrection, all to save us from our sin. I’ve always told my children, “Denominations were peoples’ ideas…Jesus was God’s idea.”
Pray for the Church, that we may be all God wants us to be, and that we WILL spread the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever we go.

yes it is. Thanks for dropping by.
It seems to me that we no longer share our needs with one another. Possibly, we are all wearing masks that cause people to believe that we have it all together. We don’t share because we feel like we are the only one that doesn’t have it all together. So we keep quiet and thus no one knows how to pray for us.
Sadly, it is becoming a lost art. No one wants to take time to pray.
