FMF: Refrain by Mandy

refrain

We were halfway there. The four of us planned to lead a witness team from the college over the weekend. We rented a car and headed to West Virginia. But halfway there we had a blowout.

Thankfully, there were guys on the team willing to change a tire! That done, we jumped back into the car and continued on. I began to sing out a refrain. Surprised, the other members joined in as we praised God for His watchful care.

God is always listening to hear us worship Him in praise. Do you burst out into singing when troubles come your way? Or maybe it is more like a grumble. I promise you if you sing praises, He will bless you beyond measure. Give it a try sometime.

One of my favorite refrains is from the old hymn, Victory in Jesus.

O victory in Jesus,

My Savior, forever.

He sought me and bought me

With His redeeming blood;

He loved me ere I knew Him

And all my love is due Him,

He plunged me to victory,

Beneath the cleansing flood.

  1. Sing to the Lord a new song. Blessed to be your neighbor at FMF this week.

  2. I think perhaps the best refrain
    from the music scene
    always was, and shall remain,
    from a song by Queen.
    “We Are The Champions” bids me rise
    in the midst of cancer’s fire;
    it puts mad sparkle in my eyes,
    and lifts my spirits higher
    than they have a right to be,
    considerin’ situation,
    but I’ll take words of victory
    over devastation;
    thus, Freddie M., my friend,
    we’ll keep on fighting to the end.

    For those who might not be fans, Freddie M. is the late Frddie Mercury, Queen’s lead singer.

  3. Yes! So right Marvia. Which reminds me of another refrain.

    Turn your eyes upon Jesus
    Look full in His wonderful face
    And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
    In the light of His glory and grace
