FMF: Distraction

We go finger walking through the house. Pudgy baby feet taking steps. We stop, he turns, and we head back to where we came from. He sees something and heads that way. It’s all a distraction to him.

Which way do I go? Such a big world to a little boy. We begin our trek again and stop abruptly. He gazes down, wriggling little baby toes, fascinated by them. He looks up and smiles at me, wrinkling up his nose. Another distraction, observed.

Finally satisfied with his assessment, he once again takes steps and this time we are headed to the big window. Semi trucks, cement mixer and feed truck all shift down as they come into town and we are mesmerized by the distraction of busy life, new things and his world just got a little bigger.

  1. It is amazing how distracted toddlers can become 🙂 I love that life is so exciting to them that they want to take it all in and not miss anything. What a precious little guy you have there!

  2. It is really hard to figure,
    like ‘shorter being taller’,
    that my world is getting bigger
    as it’s getting smaller.
    I cannot do the things I did,
    I cannot write the many words
    that I produced as God had bid
    while I was working towards
    a brighter day that lay ahead
    with joys that would surround;
    that thing which came about, instead,
    was cancer’s harsh put-down,
    but in defeat there’s victory,
    for losing let my heart soar free.
